Racing is one of our core activities. Currently we have two very strong fleets meeting every Tuesday and Wednesday for buoy racing that takes place right off the Sheboygan harbor. In addition, every season we schedule several long-distance races from Sheboygan to various destinations on Lake Michigan.
2023 will be another exciting racing season with the following events scheduled:

July 8th - Hika Bay Two-Handed
July 29th - Triangle Distance Race
August 5th - Sheboygan To Manitowoc
August 6th - Manitowoc To Sheboygan
September 1st - Sheboygan To Port Washington
September 9th - Oostburg Two-Handed Race
September 16th - Last Chance

Tuesday Racing
Tuesday is our Lightning Fleet racing. Lightning is a 19' - 2 to 3 person racing sailboat. Fast and stable with a huge spinnaker; third largest one-design fleet in the world with over 15,000 boats in the class. Raced in club, regional, national, and international competition.
Wednesday Racing
Non-members are welcome to participate in SYC's PHRF Racing Program. If you are interested, download and complete the 2022 SYC PHRF Racing Entry Form and submit it with the other required documents (proof of insurance; PHRF Certificate [not required for Wednesdays]; and proof of US Sailing Membership [optional - discounted fees]).

Weather Buoys
All three of the sanctuary’s data buoys are back in the water for the season and transmitting data! Located off Two Rivers, Sheboygan, and Port Washington, realtime data from the buoys includes wind, wave and water temperature information. Direct links to the data are below. These were funded a couple years ago by a grant from the Great Lakes Observing System.
